2,877 pounds
of clothing and linens donated to the People's City Mission!
As we focused on fairness for the month of October, we remember that fairness doesn't only mean trying to get along on the playground or in our classrooms, it really means helping others get what they need to be successful. When we talked about service projects to go with fairness, we decided upon the People's City Mission because of all they do for homeless families in our area. It's not always fair that they may not have what they need to succeed.
So we put out the call to Waverly Intermediate School students, staff, and families and you responded in a BIG way! Every day, boxes and bags of donations would appear in classrooms and in the front office. We were amazed at the generosity of our Waverly families. We are so thrilled that through your efforts, our school was able to donate 2,877 pounds of linen and clothing to the People's City Mission in Lincoln.
Our student council members were able to work together with the men from the mission to load the truck. Check out the slideshow of all of their hard work! Many thanks to Dave Kage for picking up and weighing the donations every day and helping student council with this project.

Character Challenge for Fairness: Spooktakular Scramble
Clues will be given out during morning announcements of "fairness" related words. Students must decode the word and have their teacher e-mail the word to Mrs. Abel as soon as they decode it. Points will be awarded to classes based the number of correct answers and the order they are received by the counselor. The class with the most points at the end of the character challenge WINS the character cup for Fairness! Words will be announced randomly so students must listen carefully to announcements every day. Students may work together unscramble the fairness-related word.
